I dislike my job. I know that this isn't politically correct to say when there are still so many people who are without one and would appreciate having the one that I have and hate but it is still true. Since I've entered the workforce, I can count on one finger the job that I liked and it was when I was still in high school. It wasn't the job of my dreams but at least I had a sense of fulfillment.
Now, I feel that I'm one of many who are just working to pay the bills and waiting for the weekends to arrive. I hate Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and would include Fridays if I worked them. I keep thinking that it has to be something more out there but I've just failed to find it. This is why, I've been looking for the last five years to leave but I'm afraid that I won't be able to find anything or worse find something that I hate even more.
I hope that once I complete my degree, I will find the courage to bite the bullet and finally go and take a chance on myself and find the fulfillment that has been missing.
Erika, hopefully after you complete your degree, you can get a job or career you enjoy. But change is good, and sometimes we have to step out on faith and take a chance. Many people are working to just pay the bills. But that does not mean you have to settle. Go after your happiness and fulfillment.
ReplyDeleteErika, you definitely need to make a change once you get your degree, if not sooner. You mentioned when you did the introduction in class that even though you disliked your job you would probably stay there another couple of years after you graduated. I couldn't help thinking why you would have that mindset? Fear should not be the motivation for your action or inaction or you will live a life full of regrets. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, and that's the truth. You can do it -- believe in yourself or no one else will, girl! :)
ReplyDeleteI have been in a job I hated. My husband kept telling me to be happy that I had a job, but I could not accept it. I ended up leaving and have never regretted that decision. I think you should look for another job immediately. My philosophy is if you don't like what you are doing, change it. We have control over our happiness, and for all the time we spend at work, we all need to be happy.
ReplyDeleteIt's very difficult being in an unpleasant work situation. I remember working at a place that I absolutely hated but kept everything in perspective because I knew it was temporary. I know things may seem hopeless or that there's no end to your misery. Do you think that your lack of satisfaction is also affecting how you present yourself to other employers, if you've had an interview? I have been looking for work since 2010 when I was laid and I have been so frustrated and discouraged at times, but I have to make sure these are temporary feelings or else I might give up. Don't allow fear or what might be keep you from moving forward and improving your situation.
ReplyDeleteYou sound like me..lol I dread going to work but I don't totally dislike...hopefully you find peace an stay positive
